BIO
Brysen Boyd is a Seattle native, New York City based playwright and essayist. He has received fellowships and scholarships from Sewanee Writers Conference, The Kennedy Center, Columbia University, Napa Valley Writers Conference, Performing Arts Initiative for Students of Color, and elsewhere. His plays have been presented in part with The Boston Theater Marathon, the Kennedy Center, and others. Having come to playwriting and creative nonfiction in undergrad by way of his first love, TV, his goal in life is to write stories that make others feel as excited as 10-year-old him felt when watching David and Keith on “Six Feet Under.” He is currently an MFA Candidate at Columbia University and is working on a collection of essays about what it means to be a Black/Mexican/Queer/Catholic dude in today's collegiate world.
Writing means everything to him—second only to his miniature wiener dogs, Simon and Alvin.
